Ryan Fox Claims First PGA Tour Victory at Myrtle Beach Classic
New Zealand’s Ryan Fox captured his first PGA Tour title in dramatic fashion on Sunday, chipping in for birdie on the first playoff hole to win the inaugural OneFlight Myrtle Beach Classic.
The 38-year-old edged out Harry Higgs and Mackenzie Hughes in a sudden-death playoff at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, securing the final spot in next week’s Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club.
Fox, who has won 17 times worldwide including four DP World Tour titles, had never previously tasted victory on the PGA Tour. His win comes in just his seventh PGA start and marks a turning point after a tough start to the season—he entered the week ranked No. 138 in FedExCup points without a top-10 finish in 2025.
“I’ve always felt I could compete out here,” Fox said. “I just hadn’t been able to put it all together. Today, I finally did.”
Fox credited a timely read from his caddie, Dean, for the playoff chip-in. “He reminded me the putt doesn’t break that much. I hit the spot I wanted, and from eight feet out, it never looked like it was going anywhere else.”
Mackenzie Hughes narrowly missed sealing the title in regulation, lipping out a 10-foot par putt on 18. Fox’s playoff win was sealed after an errant drive and long chip that found the hole from 50 feet.
Fox’s win also provides some relief after a grueling 2024 season where he struggled to adjust to life on tour while balancing family responsibilities. “Twenty weeks on the road with two kids under four was no joke,” he said. “That definitely affected things on the course.”
Fox will now head to Quail Hollow with renewed confidence—and momentum.
